The Cleveland Cavaliers have emerged as a dominant force in the NBA, concluding the 2024-25 regular season with a remarkable 64-18 record. Under the leadership of head coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavs clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and secured the Central Division title for the first time since 2018.
This success is attributed to the stellar performances of key players. Donovan Mitchell led the team with an impressive scoring average, while Darius Garland orchestrated the offense with precision. The frontcourt duo of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen anchored the defense, contributing significantly to the team's league-leading defensive rating. The Cavaliers' depth was further bolstered by the additions of Max Strus and Georges Niang, providing valuable contributions off the bench.

The Cavaliers have one of the youngest and most exciting cores in the NBA. Guard Donovan Mitchell, in his first year with the Cavs, averaged a career-high 28.3 points and shot almost 50% from the field. Point guard Darius Garland has turned into an elite playmaker - averaging 7.8 assists. And the front court of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are a dominant force. The two combined for 2.7 blocks and 18.8 rebounds a game. It all led to the Cavs' first playoff berth without LeBron James in over 20 years. To get even better, Cleveland made it a point to improve its bench, grabbing Max Strus and Georges Niang in free agency. The Cavs and head coach J.B. Bickerstaff can win now.

Despite injuries and overall youth, the Cleveland Cavaliers doubled their win total last season (22 to 44) and now have a playmaker poised to make an even bigger impact this season, raising expectations to levels that haven't been seen in decades for a Cavs team that doesn't have LeBron James. Donovan Mitchell was acquired from a Utah team that he helped lead to a No. 1 seed in the Western Conference two seasons ago. Look for Evan Mobley to get even better in his second season, as he has the tools to play the Rudy Gobert role under Mitchell's tutelage. Darius Garland also has room to improve, and Jarrett Allen is back with his stellar defense.
